Very interesting article about the development of Pentecostalism and its influence on American politicians. We have discussed some of this at Pagans'' Night Out meet-ups....

So, I was cruising Plenty of Fish late tonight for the very second time. I hadn''t gone there since I opened an account a few weeks ago. Basically, I was too busy, and also forgot!
Anyway, I encountered a profile for a guy named "torup" and after reading it, invited him to join this Yahoo group. It will be interesting if he does. I don''t know anything about quite a lot of what he listed, so I am going to be busy looking some of this stuff up!
Here goes his profile:

TX town changes prayer policy. I think it is the proximity to Austin which made them do this. Whatever....

Be afraid, be very afraid. They are going to shove the "gospel" down the throat of everyone who lives in Texas.
Merry Meet everyone. I got this message on one of my other lists I am subscribed to and thought I''d forward it to all of you because I got my Book of Shadows CD in the other day and think it''s wonderful! Anyways, you can get yours at http://www.freebos.com. It''s free but you still have to pay for shipping ($5) but it''s way worth it.
Our next Pagan''s Night Out Meet-up will be on Sunday, August 2 at 2pm at The Quintessential Mage, 2914 County Avenue, Texarkana, Arkansas. We will be celebrating Lammas, aka Lughnasadh, a Celtic Harvest festival. It will be volunary potluck, as usual. Our member Jean Dixon will be leading our recognition/celebration of the season.
At 4pm that same day, in the same place, another Meet-up group has an event. They are the Exploring Higher Dimensions group. We encourage all of our PNO members to join that group as well, and perhaps we can sometimes combine events in the future.
Great group tonight at PNO, lots of new faces. We missed some of our more active members, but understand that work/family/etc. kept you away.
If anybody on this group is not on Facebook, please join us there! You can find me under "Gypsy Trill" and become my "friend", and then link to the others through my page.
We are having fun on Facebook!

In the modern Western countries, religion is largely an individual matter. People meditate or pray, seek self-improvement, search for personal spiritual enlightenment, or find individual salvation. Religion is only a set of beliefs and practices, which can be chosen by the seeker as easily as we buy a new car - and changed for a new one even more easily.
